In 1989, The Philippines Australia Council in Support of the Filipino Women was established as a response to the growing number of Filipino women migrating to Australia. Its main purpose was to help these women in their settlement process. In 1995, the name was changed to Philippine Australian Community Services Inc to reflect the composition of Filipinos migrating to Australia under family stream migration. Through the settlement grants from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), PACSI is able to continue providing support and assistance to newly-arrived Filipino migrants.
The Philippines-Australia Community Services Inc (PACSI) is an independent community-based organization working for the rights and welfare of the Filipino migrants in Australia. We believe that by facilitating their access to information, resources and social networks, PACSI contributes to their empowerment. Thus, Filipino migrants can contribute more significantly to the Australian society as they continue to uphold and practice Filipino culture and values.
PACSI is a membership-based organisation. We invite our target groups to join and also become active volunteers in the organisation. Volunteering is an excellent way to meet new friends, gain knowledge and new skills from others and an opportunity to expand ones support network.
